FAQ

  • Do insurance companies still cover wood roofs?
Yes they do. With a restored roof, it is still covered under fire insurance because our treatment is a fire-retardant roof protectant.
  • How long does it make your roof last?
A roof’s lifespan is dependant on a variety factors, such as; weather, sunlight, shading, wind, age, thickness etc. Cedar roofs are known for their long lasting life span. With our complete restoration process, it will allow your roofs life to extend an additional 15-20 years. If the restoration maintenance process is completed every 5 years, your roof would be able to last for an additional 50 years.
  • Is our process a bandaid to my roof?
This is a myth. The regular maintenance of anything will prolong its life. Our complete restoration process corrects and fixes any faults the roof may have. It is not a bandage over those areas, but a removal and complete repair. Our process allows you to get the most out of your roof without allowing natural damage or deterioration to occur.
  • Is a roof ever too old to get restored?
There may be areas that are very damaged and will require much more maintenance. In our experience, we have yet to face a cedar roof that we have not been able to restore back to complete health.
  • How much does it cost?
Each roof varies quite differently in price depending on the extent of repairs that need to be done. A 50 year old roof will require a higher number of bundles for repair than a 15 year old roof. That's why we recommend getting a free estimate so see how much it will be. One thing we can promise, it will be cheaper than getting a full re-roof of even asphalt! So why not get a quote today?
  • Do you paint the roof?
Your roof is not painted but rather treated. Our treatment is a stain and not a paint. A solid color stain looks like paint, but soaks into wood instead of sitting on top of it. As it ages, stain breaks down by fading rather than peeling. Older layers of stain tend to look better than paint does over time. Our treatment is similar to this staining process. It's absorbing nature protects the roof more thoroughly but also allows the roof to be colour matched to your choice.
  • How do you do it?
Refer to service page to see our process. We also have a 30 second video that shows our three step process.
  • Is the treatment harmful?
No, you, your pets, and your plants are totally safe. Our treatment has a water base and it is environment friendly.
  • Is the treatment going to stain my house?
No, the treatment is water-soluble and will not stain driveways, sidewalks, or siding. We soak the house with water as we are applying the treatment. If any treatment dries in an area we miss, it will come off very easily with a Eco-friendly green cleaner. If there are concerns with certain areas of the house, we have material that we can mask off those areas and protecting them from any overspray.
  • What colour of treatments do you have?
We have 6 main color stains which include charcoal, dark brown, light brown, dark grey, light grey, and cedar. We can create samples on pieces of cedar shake for our customers who are interested or can point them in the direction of roofs that have been completed to see the total colour.
  • How long does an average house take?
An average roof of about 2500 square feet takes about 2-4 days as long as weather permits. When applying the treatment, there cannot be high winds or any kind of precipitation. We are usually about to finishing washing and repairs in 1-2 days.
